Top Ten Healthcare Issues for 2010

According to a recent report, efforts to decrease healthcare costs, enact healthcare reform, improvements in information technology, great focus on community health, not just individual health, better public health preparation are among the top 10 healthcare issues for 2010. Also in the top 10 are continued increases in physcians joining existing hospital organzations rather than having private community based practices, as well as continued focus on decreased insurance fraud and abuse.   1. These healthcare goals for 2010 look very promising and I hope that we do see these positive changes. Reducing the healthcare costs would benefit so many people and perhaps some people that currently do not have healthcare may be able to receive it this year. It would be great if the U.S. as a whole could all have healthcare like most of the other countries. But I have to wonder that with the increased technology that the hospitals are acquiring, if our costs would increase to cover the expenses. Also with the physicians leaving their private practices to join the health systems, would we still get the same one on one personal care that we expected when we went to their office, now at the hospital? However, I think that the alternative care in the home and the community health are great ideas. Hopefully we can help more people this year with the improved healthcare.
